A series of four, with two separate colour palettes. Both pairs have soft washes of watercolour with minimal detail to create calm, atmospheric landscapes that focus more on mood than realism. The muted palette of beiges, greys, and subtle blues blends gently across the surface, while loose brushstrokes and blurred edges suggest land, sky, and water without clearly defining them. The compositions feel open and spacious, with large areas of light tone that create a sense of quiet and stillness, while darker marks guide the viewer’s eye across the scene. This style is influenced by Impressionism, where artists focused on capturing light and feeling rather than detail, as well as Abstract Expressionism, seen in the fluid, spontaneous application of paint. This series highlights atmosphere, emotion, and the beauty of minimal, expressive mark-making.
