Ordering and payment
No. You can check out as a guest. An account keeps your saved walls and favourites across devices, and making one is just an email and a six-digit code.
With any of the cards and wallets shown at checkout. Your card is charged when you place the order, including for made-to-order pieces.
Yes. Every price is in CAD, and sales tax is added at checkout for your province. There are no duties or brokerage fees, because everything ships from Canada.
A few pieces are priced at the studio's minimum, so they never go on sale and don't take codes. The piece says so on its page, and the code still applies to everything else in your cart.
Yes. If the price of a piece drops within 14 days of your purchase, we refund the difference. Email me at diana@blankwall.ca or use the contact page and I'll take care of it.
Yes. Designers can apply for trade pricing from the Trade link in the footer.
Made to order and ready to ship
A made-to-order piece is printed and framed for you after you order, in the size and finish you choose. A ready-to-ship piece is a studio edition already made and waiting in the warehouse. Every product page and card says which it is, in words beside an icon.
Made to order: 3 to 4 weeks to leave our Burlington studio, then courier transit to your door. The exact range is on the product page three times before you add it to your cart, and again in the cart and at checkout.
Ready to ship: 2 weeks to leave the warehouse, then courier transit to your door. If the warehouse is ever slower, the product page says so and gives the date it ends. Everything in Ready to ship is in stock now.
Because nothing is made until you order it. The studio prints your piece in the size you chose, frames it or stretches it on canvas, and checks it before it's boxed. Our guide Made to order, explained walks through each step.
Yes. They ship separately, the ready-to-ship piece first, and you pay one shipping charge for the order. Each part gets its own tracking email.
Yes. You get an email when the order is placed, another when it ships with tracking, and I'll write if anything changes the date.
No. Studio editions aren't backordered, but you can ask for one email if the piece comes back. When stock is low, the page shows how many are left so you can decide; we never run countdowns.
Shipping and delivery
Shipping is free across Canada on orders over $499, and a flat $29 below. A studio with its own terms shows them on the product page and beside the line in the cart.
No. Everything ships from Canada and is priced in CAD, so there are no duties or brokerage fees at your door.
Everywhere in Canada.
Every piece is boxed with corner guards and comes with a hanging guide. The courier asks for a signature, so plan to be home or send it to an address where someone will be.
No. Every order goes by courier from the studio to your door. That's how we keep the price the same for everyone across Canada.
The courier leaves a notice with how to rebook. The tracking email names the courier, so you can also change the delivery day there.
Returns, damage and cancellations
Yes, within 30 days of delivery, unhung and in the original box. A 10% restocking fee applies to the price you paid, and return shipping is on you. The refund goes back to your card within 1 business day of the piece reaching the warehouse. The full policy is on Shipping and returns.
No. A made-to-order piece is custom-made for you, at the size and finish you chose, so it can't be resold, and that's why it's final sale. Not sure about a size or finish? Ask me before you order, or try it on your wall first with Your Blank Wall.
Send me a photo within 5 days of delivery: email it to diana@blankwall.ca, or use the form on the contact page. I reply within one business day, file the claim with the studio and keep you posted until a replacement is on its way. You don't pay for any of it, and a refund is there if you'd rather.
Email me at diana@blankwall.ca, or use the form on the contact page, with your order number and the piece. I'll send the return address and the steps; you book and pay for the courier, and the refund (less the restocking fee) goes back to your card.
A ready-to-ship order can be cancelled until it leaves the warehouse. A made-to-order order can be cancelled within 24 hours of ordering, before the studio starts on it; after that it's in production and can't be stopped.
Only before production starts, inside the same 24 hours. Email me at diana@blankwall.ca or use the contact page as soon as you can, and I'll ask the studio.
Sizing and Your Blank Wall
About two-thirds to three-quarters of the sofa's width: 56 to 63″ (142 to 160 cm) of art over an 84″ (213 cm) sofa. Hang the bottom edge 8″ (20 cm) above the sofa back; anywhere from 6 to 10″ (15 to 25 cm) works. How big should art be above a sofa? has the full rules and the exceptions.
The same band works: two-thirds to three-quarters of the bed's width, about 40 to 45″ (102 to 114 cm) over a 60″ (152 cm) queen and 51 to 57″ (130 to 145 cm) over a 76″ (193 cm) king. Keep the bottom edge 8″ (20 cm) above the headboard, within 6 to 10″ (15 to 25 cm). How to measure your wall shows what to measure.
The piece works horizontal or vertical, and its Orientation row says so. In the size filters it counts both ways: a 60″ × 40″ piece shows under 60″ wide and under 60″ tall.
Yes. Every size is the finished piece, frame included, in inches with cm beside them in Product details. You can switch the whole site to cm from the footer.
No, and every one is labelled "Rendered room, approximate scale". Some are the studio's own room photos; others are ours, where we placed the art in a room photo at its listed size, from the wall's measurements. Either way the size is close but not measured on your wall. The art itself is never repainted.
As accurate as your two measurements. Your Blank Wall scales everything from them. The piece is scaled to the width and height you give, so a tape measure to the nearest inch is plenty. If we can't straighten a photo, it says "Rendered room, approximate scale" and you should measure before you hang. Colours on screen vary, and the wall colour is your photo's.
In the free visualizer, your photo is prepared and straightened in your browser and stays there; it isn't uploaded. A wall you keep stays on your device for 30 days, or on your account for 12 months if you save it there, and deleting the wall deletes the photo. The AI visualizer sends your photo to our AI service to read and render it, and keeps it in private storage that only you can see. A shared link shows the render, never your photo, and we don't run analytics on what's in it.
No. The free visualizer needs no email or sign-in, and you can also try a sample room. The AI visualizer needs a quick email check: we send a code, and that's your account made.
Hanging and care
Yes. Every piece comes with its hanging hardware, and every box includes a hanging guide. Each product's Hanging hardware section says exactly what's on the back.
On a bare wall, centre the piece 57″ (145 cm) from the floor. Above furniture, hang the bottom edge 8″ (20 cm) above it instead; anywhere from 6 to 10″ (15 to 25 cm) works. How high should you hang art? has the arithmetic for the nail.
3″ (8 cm) between pieces, the gap our sample walls and visualizer use; anywhere from 2 to 4″ (5 to 10 cm) works if every gap matches. Size and hang the whole group as one piece. See How to hang pairs and triptychs and the gallery wall templates.
Often, yes, for lighter pieces. Each product lists its weight, and our guide Art for renters matches weights to no-nail hooks and strips, and says when you need a screw.
Each made-to-order piece lists its frame options on the product page; the custom frame options page has more. Choose Custom frame instead and we'll email a quote; nothing is charged until you say yes, and the quote tells you how much time it adds to the lead time.
Dust it with a dry microfibre cloth or soft brush; on glass, spray cleaner on the cloth, never on the glass, and never put water on canvas. Keep it out of direct sun and away from bathrooms and other damp rooms. The Care section on each product gives the steps for its material.
Studios and artists
Made-to-order pieces are printed and framed by our Burlington studio in Burlington, Ontario. Ready-to-ship pieces are studio editions designed by our Montreal studio and shipped from its Montreal warehouse. Every piece names its artist or studio, and its origin line says where it was made. Our artists and studios has more on each.
I do. I'm Diana, and I only list art I'd hang at home; I have pieces from both studios on my own walls. Our story says why.
Most pieces are giclée prints, printed with archival inks and framed or stretched by the studio. The product page says exactly what each piece is, in its Medium and Edition rows. We only call a piece original if its record says so.
Made-to-order pieces are made in Canada, in Burlington, Ontario, and their origin line says so. Ready-to-ship pieces are designed in Montreal and ship from there. BlankWall is Canadian owned and run from Toronto.
Yes, me. Email me a photo of your wall and its width at diana@blankwall.ca, or use the form on the contact page, and I'll tell you what size to look at. I usually reply the same day.
