Created by in house artist Gayle Harismowich, the Layered Interval set of 2 reduces a landscape to a series of atmospheric forms, using layered paint, textured surfaces, and softened horizons to explore space, stillness, and the relationship between land and water. Thin linear marks and overlapping passages suggest distant shorelines and shifting terrain, while expansive areas of open space draw attention to subtle variations in surface and depth. Influenced by Tonalism and contemporary landscape abstraction, the series emphasizes mood, atmosphere, and simplified form over specific location. Through layering, texture, and a restrained visual language, Layered Interval transforms familiar landscape elements into contemplative studies of space, light, and perception.
