This series of four uses brightly coloured, cut-out shapes arranged on a clean, neutral background that creates a playful and balanced abstract composition. The textured areas of colour, contrast with the subtle texture of the paper’s surface, while the irregular shapes feel organic and spontaneous. The careful placement of each form shows a strong sense of design, using space, proportion, and colour harmony to guide the viewer’s eye around the page. This style is strongly influenced by artists like Henri Matisse, who used cut paper shapes in his later work, as well as elements of Collage Art where fragmented shapes are arranged to create meaning. The simplified forms and bold colours also connect to Mid-20th century design and Minimalism, where artists focused on basic shapes and visual balance rather than detailed realism. Overall, the series is creative, colourful, and the compositions show how simple shapes can be arranged to create visually engaging and expressive artwork.
