About this piece

The State Series celebrates ten western states through bold typographic artworks that transform state abbreviations into striking graphic compositions. Available in Neutral and Terra Cotta colourways, and offered as Framed Canvas, Gallery Wrap Canvas, and Under Glass in large, mid, or small, the series combines letterforms with decorative linework and textured surfaces to create a clean, contemporary interpretation of regional identity. Each piece focuses on oversized initials rendered in a simplified, hand-painted style. The dark forms stand in strong contrast against softly textured backgrounds. The generous use of negative space allows the letters to become both the subject and the design, creating a balanced arrangement that feels modern while drawing inspiration from traditional signage and folk art. The weathered textures and earthy palette give the series a handcrafted appearance, with the Neutral version offering a classic, understated look and the Terra Cotta colourway introducing warmth inspired by sunbaked landscapes of the American Southwest. Combining elements of graphic design, typography, and decorative painting, the collection highlights the beauty of simple forms, bold composition, and a strong sense of place.
